"An oasis in a busy world." That’s the way one might describe any Christian Science Reading Room, especially this one in Scottsdale. Located in the heart of a shopping district in this winter tourist’s haven, First Church Scottsdale’s Reading Room receives visitors from all over the U.S. and the world. It’s within easy walking distance for many and it’s beautiful, peaceful environment welcomes visitors to come in and study. "It’s a great climate - and there’s a lot of healing work going on here," notes the librarian.
In addition to the usual study tools including reference books, Bound Volumes and computer loaded with Concord and Found Volumes, this Reading Room also has a "giving" section. Here donated books, tapes, etc. are available free - to keep or use and return. "Our job is to spread the word of Truth. People who are searching for peach and healing find it here."
The church owns the 1500-sq ft building on the corner of Winfield Scott and 5th Avenue. It was dedicated in April 2001. The western contemporary interior décor features six large windows, a fireplace and a complete library of all bound Journals and Sentinels dating from 1894.
