Planning a Lecture?

Christine Driessen, Manager of the Board of Lectureship, noted in her report at Annual Meeting 2005, that over 60,000 people - 30,000 newcomers to Christian Science - attended a lecture this past year. That’s an impressive number, and it’s even more important to realize is that every lecture is a "strong, clear message of healing."

In the Manual’s directive about lectures (see page 93), the word "condemn" should make us all stop and think. Christine remarked that in Mrs. Eddy’s day, "to condemn" meant "to wrong" - to show resistance to the Christ or animal magnetism. Do we "wrong" our own lecture planning with thoughts of lack--too small, too many, not enough? We can all "right" our lecture prep with the same metaphysical truths we hope to share with our communities. The lecturer you choose and the BOL staff are happy to assist you. Their expertise can be a wonderful aid to your efforts.

Mary Baker Eddy wrote, "There are various methods of treating disease, which are not included in the commonly accepted systems; but there is only one which should be presented to the whole world, and that is the Christian Science which Jesus preached and practised and left to us as his rich legacy."(Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 344)

For over a century, the Christian Science Board of Lectureship has been providing speakers to share this scientific system of Christ-healing with audiences around the world. The following lecturers have been elected by The Christian Science Board of Directory to serve from July 2005 through June 2006:
