Rediscover the Adventure

Adventure Unlimited Celebrates Its 50th Anniversary!
Rediscover the Adventure event planned August 24-31, 2005

A/U alumni representing all five decades recently met at the A/U Ranches to plan the 50th celebration for August 24-31, 2005. Plans include two mini-camps and a celebration weekend for alumni 18 and older. To learn more about the festivities, visit AU2005.org.

In 1955, John "Cap" and Marianne Andrews realized a dream by starting a western camp for Christian Science boys in a rented lodge near Buena Vista, Colorado in the heart of the Colorado Rockies. Their purpose was to show boys from Christian Science families that young men could be both manly and spiritually minded. They soon purchased Sky Valley and Round-Up Ranches and offered their first summer of camping for girls in 1959.

Adventure Unlimited began its outreach program in 1965 as a response to campers and parents asking for year-round activities back home. Now called DiscoveryBound, A/U’s field program continues to offer local, regional, and national activities for Christian Science teens and their friends.

The A/U purpose is to provide inspiring recreational, social, educational, and service activities for Christian Scientists and their friends, especially children and young people, in an atmosphere conducive to the recognition of the practicality and effectiveness of Christian Science.
