Launch of www.christianscience.com

The First Church of Christ, Scientist, announced [January 25, 2008] the launch of www.christianscience.com. At the heart of this new website is a collection of video clips in which people share their personal experiences in Christian Science. It provides a window through which the public can view the impact of Christian Science on people's lives and better understand the practice of spiritual healing.

"People hear about Christian Scientists relying on prayer for healing, but what does that really mean?" said Tom Black, speaking on behalf of the Christian Science Board of Directors. "It is good to know that people who rely on the Web for information have a place where they can hear about Christian Science healing directly from those who have experienced it."

Christianscience.com makes it easy for the public to get accurate information about Christian Science and Church activities. The Church expects this will clear up some of the common misconceptions about Christian Science. The site will explain why:

* Christian Scientists choose to rely on prayer for healing

* Christian Science is a Christian, Bible-based religion, not a cult.

This is a first step in a long-term plan to develop the Church's family of websites. It provides a convenient entryway to spirituality.com, TMCYouth.com, csmonitor.com, marybakereddylibrary.org, and churchofchristscientist.org.

The site includes a section designed specifically for the media, accessible by clicking on the "media inquiries" link.
