Christian Science Joint Broadcast Committee Inc., Phoenix

Annual Meeting Report—2008

The Christian Science Joint Broadcast Committee, Inc. is a non-profit organization established and supported by the Christian Science churches in the Phoenix metropolitan area. The Committee goal is to reach out to everyone through a variety of broadcast activities.

On each of the broadcast activities we have seen growth and fruitage. Over the past couple of years we have added the Sentinel and El Heraldo (the Herald in Spanish) to the Bible Lesson phone line. These are all available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our biggest news is the expansion of The Christian Science Bible Lesson Sermon Telephone Lines through Message Link. You can now hear them in the Tucson, and Prescott areas, including the Sentinel and El Heraldo. We look forward to fruitage and calls in these areas.

For the past 15 years Radio Station KXAM has done a very good job for us. A new contract costing $21 a Sunday more, covers the 2 programs, and the 7 thirty-second ads per week, with more ad control and payments going to CSJBC, instead of KXAM. Gardner’s World will continue to pay KXAM for their 30-second ad. There is a standing order of three CSJBC ads (phone-in numbers, website, etc,) which rotate if church, lecture, and other ads are not to be aired. An equitable fee of $15 is the cost for each 30-second ad, and $30 for each 60-second ad.

The Christian Science Sentinel Radio Program broadcast at 8:30 p.m. Sundays on Radio Station KTNN, 660 AM from Window Rock, Arizona, is directed to listeners living in the Four Corners area. Designated contributions from individuals and churches need more support to meet their expenses.

The cost of providing two web sites is also being met by revenues generated by the web site. Revenues have come from web site sponsors, sale of advertising, and from donations specifically designated for web site activities.

The CSJBC goal is that these activities continue to be self-supporting and fully funded with the specific revenue as outlined above. Thank you for your support of CSJBC activities. Each church member is important and valuable to our committee. The broadcasting work is exciting and is reaching thousands of receptive individuals throughout Arizona and the world. Please contact your church representative if you need additional information.
